Empires of EVE Volume 2 Is Out Now, Covers The Great Conflicts Of EVE Online

Eve Online - Free To Play

Andrew Groen's Empires of EVE Volume 2 is now out, detailing the next chapter in EVE Online's history and its players. A follow up to his 2016 work, Empires of EVE Volume 1, the second volume picks up where the first left off, offering insight into the complex world of New Eden as told by its players.

Empires of EVE Volume 2 has been years in the making, and the second volume picks up the tale of the space-faring MMO, helping to preserve the years of player-made history in one of gaming's most social and expansive universes. In an MMO where the stories told within aren't normally ones written by the developers, but rather the escapades of the player who inhabit the universe, EVE Online's history being preserved by Groen in an approachable, concise manner is much needed.

Stargate Trailblazers Event – Break New Ground

The Stargate Trailblazers event begins on 25 May, running through to 1 June. During this event, the Empires will be working to gather resources for the construction of new stargate routes around New Eden. This has, unfortunately, attracted attention from the local pirate groups seeking to take the newly mined resources for themselves.

Which is where you come in! There’s only a limited amount of time in which to construct the gates so the Empires need as much Capsuleer help as possible. Pick a side and support your faction by taking on either timed combat sites to defend the Empire or resource harvesting sites to assist in gathering materials. Your help will go a long way towards onlining new pathways around the universe, and you’ll be well rewarded for your efforts. Make your actions leave a lasting impression on EVE Online, help break new ground!

By participating in this event, you will be rewarded with ISK and Loyalty Points which can be spent in a newly revamped LP store to get some awesome new items. Additionally, there will be daily rewards and challenges running through the period so make sure you log in to EVE and do your part to support the construction efforts!

EVE Online's 2v2 Gnosis Gambit Live in Abyssal Proving Grounds

EVE Online has received its next Abyssal Proving Grounds PvP instance. And this time, it’s a 2v2 Gnosis Gambit. Here are the details if you’re interested in participating.

The event will run through tomorrow, May 25, at 11:00 UTC, so you still have some time to jump in and check it out. Essentially, you’ll take part in a 2v2 battle using the SoCT battlecruiser, Gnosis. The flexibility of this vessel should prove handy since you can apparently deck it out with virtually any weapon.

However, there are limitations for this event. These limitations include:
  • Ships limited to only the Gnosis
  • Modules limited to meta level 5 and below
  • No pirate implants

So if you were thinking of including pirate implants, you’ll have to rethink your strategy. To participate, you’ll need Proving Filaments which can be found in Abyssal Deadspace loot drops. Alternatively, you can buy them from the in-game market.

If you want to track your performance throughout this event, you can do so on the leaderboard. You can learn more details about this 2v2 Gnosis Gambit event here.

Online gamers take on COVID-19 analysis

Scientists have been receiving help with vital coronavirus research from an unlikely team of data analysts—players of the popular online computer game EVE Online.

The gaming community has been helping to analyze data from patients with COVID-19 as part of the COVID-IP study, a collaboration between the Francis Crick Institute, King's College London and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Researchers have been examining the composition of immune cells in the blood of patients with COVID-19 to better understand how SARS-CoV-2 causes disease and why some people end up needing intensive hospital care. Their ambition is to characterize 'immune signatures," identifiable in blood tests, that can be used to guide treatment decisions and give every patient the best chance of recovery.

CSM 16 - Meet Your Candidates!

Eve Online - Free To Play

In the last week, we have comprehensively reviewed all the CSM applications to ensure that they met the appropriate guidelines and eligibility requirements. It is with great excitement that we present to you your candidates for the upcoming Council of Stellar Management!

From Wormhole residents to War-Dec corporations, these candidates possess broad knowledge about EVE Online and mean to represent a myriad of different gameplay styles. This information is invaluable to us, and while we look forward to working with CSM 16 there is still much work to be done.

The CSM 16 Campaign Period begins now, 20 May, and runs for just over two weeks until 4 June. During this period, you will be able to learn more about your prospective candidates as they look to earn your vote in the upcoming elections. Each candidate has a forum thread on the EVE Online forums with a brief overview of their platform. Since the CSM elections utilize the STV system, it is possible to select a variety of candidates to vote for.

Learning about CSM candidates is paramount! While many will make themselves available in the EVE media sphere, the CSM campaign threads are a wonderful place to learn more about the prospective candidates, interact with them, and follow along with the campaign.

In a continuation from last year, we will also be hosting brief interviews with the candidates, taking place on 25 May - 28 May, live on CCPTV. We’ll announce the interview schedule on 24 May via Facebook and Twitter, so you’ll know exactly when to tune in to hear your favorite candidate. If you can’t attend live, no need to fear! The VoD will be saved giving you ample opportunity to listen to the interviews for any - or all - of the candidates during the voting period.

Nullification and Warp Module Update – Live Now!

Eve Online - Free To Play

Tactical Capsuleers,

An update that changes nullification and warp core stabilizer gameplay is now live, granting pilots of selected ships new tactical options.

The updates have ultimately been implemented to bring gameplay depth and subtlety to the use of nullification and warp core stabilizers, ensuring they serve a more meaningful role across EVE Online and its community.

Nullification and warp core stabilizers now stand as active modules with a very short activation time and a substantial cooldown between uses. That means select ships can now use them tactically, rather than limited ships being able to take advantage of nullification and warp core stabilizers.

Mobile Observatories – Live on Singularity

Eve Online - Free To Play

Observant Capsuleers,

The brand-new Mobile Observatory is now available for testing on the Singularity test server. This deployable will bring a new tool into the mix for defence against cloaking-based incursions into lowsec and nullsec regions. They will work by periodically pinging system wide, with a chance to decloak cloaked ships which may then be combat scanned and destroyed. To prevent this from having a major effect on active players, a new buff will be applied upon recent activation of your cloak which will offer resistance against the Mobile Observatory.

You can test this new deployable right now on the public test server, Singularity. Connecting to Singularity is as easy as clicking on the server option in the bottom right of the EVE launcher and switching from Tranquility to Singularity. You can then undock and test the functionality of the Mobile Observatory versus cloaked targets.

More information about Singularity can be found in the help article and you can provide valuable feedback in the test server feedback forums.

Nullification and WCS Updates – testing has begun!

Nullification

Balanced Capsuleers,

A new update to nullification and warp core stabilizer gameplay is live on Singularity and pilots are encouraged to head to the Singularity server to try out the new changes.

Converting nullification and warp core stabilizers to stand as active modules that have a substantial cooldown between uses will add depth and alleviate concerns around their previous use as a powerful means to escape.

These updates ultimately look to add gameplay depth and subtlety, while ensuring they serve a more productive role across EVE Online and its community.

Head to the EVE Online Singularity guide now to learn about joining the server! Then head to Singularity to join the test.

Do you have something to say about the update? We’d love to hear from you! Head on over to our forum to share your thoughts and feedback.

Thoughts on 18 Cruiser FFA Proving Grounds

Eve Online

"First of: I get it. Eve is now 18 years old. And on your eighteenth birthday, some of you may have done something a bit crazy as well. Something chaotic. And putting eighteen meta-fitted T1 Cruisers into an Abyssal Arena can get very chaotic very quickly. Mission accomplished?

Well…
The Good

Chaos. I queued up five times. And it was a lot of fun to see people splitting up into little brawls and kite around, accidentially running into the scram-web Thorax and getting shredded by Blasters. Also “gf” to the Caracal that rushed in on my Arbitrator and just overwhelmed my Ancillary Armor Repper with Rapid Lights while I was distracted defanging Berserker Drones from a Vexor. That was just well played. It’s also fun to see the very different approaches to fitting and the market players in Jita surely earned some nice money off this event."

EVE Online Receives Two Major Visual Updates Including Jita 4-4 Interior and Aura

Aura

Capsuleers, rejoice! CCP announced two major visual updates for EVE Online involving the interior of Jita 4-4 Trade Hub and everyone’s favorite AI, Aura.

First up is Jita 4-4. Undoubtedly, this is the most popular exchange hub in New Eden, and as a result, it’s received a pretty major overhaul to its interior. If you were following recent developments, you’ll be aware of its architectural expansion. But with this recent update, the interior has seen some improvements.

This has resulted in a larger interior with improvements to overall cosmetics of the hub. CCP touts the detail on display inside to match the “grandeur” of the exterior. Next time you’re there, be sure to stop by and take a look.
